GOGO Lantern 10Here’s a strange idea for you. Put a flashlight inside a bucket. Under normal conditions that would seem pretty nonsensical. But the GOGO Lantern takes a different approach that does make some sense even if it’s not for everyone.

Glovax gloves-7.jpgI’ve used a lot of different kinds of gloves over the course of several years and for many different tasks. Most of the time I use a particular glove or type of glove, for specific purposes. Like working in my wood shop, garden planting, stone work, and working on my car. But is there a single type of glove that’s suited for all these jobs? Probably not, but the folks that developed the Glovax Gloves may be onto something with their product.

knives-1.jpg I do a good amount of cooking, and like any avid chef, amateur or professional, knives are important. So I was excited to see Edge of Belgravia’s newest additions to their line of Precision chef knife series. The overall design is beautiful and the handles shaped differently from the usual knives I’m accustomed to working with. But how do they cut?

IprocleanONIC has some interesting technology that it’s applying to multiple projects. My first interest came from their concept announcement of a drinking glass that imparts high voltage electric pulses to the liquid in the glass… as you drink it. Sounds interesting if mildly terrifying. That product hasn’t been developed yet, but their ProClean Toothbrush is a real product and I gave it a try for a couple months to see how it worked.

20160205 115017 Have you ever opened a bottle of bourbon that you’ve been looking forward to tasting only to be disappointed? There are plenty of really great bourbons available but there are also some that need a little help in the flavor category. Personally I’d prefer to skip those since really… there are plenty of really great and proven bourbons. But I do occasionally buy one just as an experiment, thinking that I may discover some really great new bottle. What is there to do with those disappointing bottles?

coravinI admit that there are very few instances in which I we don’t finish a bottle of wine once we’ve opened it. But there are some special wines that I’d like to savor and maybe just have one glass or a few sips and save some for later. That’s exactly what the Coravin is designed for. Here’s the problem…

cardiff skatesIt’s been a few years (OK, maybe close to 20) since I had inline skates and drove the residents of the golf community crazy as I skated through their precious golf course along the paved cart path. But when my Cardiff Skates arrived I decided to get young again. At least that’s what my mind said. My legs and muscles, not to mention my sense of balance on the other hand were not quite as enthusiastic. Still, the look of the skates with the outboard ‘training wheels’ boosted my confidence.

govino's drinkware has always been a great solution for use outdoors, by the pool, or anywhere using real glass might not be advisable. But it required hand washing. Govino has just announced its 'dishwasher safe' collection that can (obviously) be put into the dishwasher for cleaning. Great idea since I don't really relish hand washing anything after using wine glasses. Here are the details:

Anova unitThe Anova Precison Cooker is a heating unit that fits in your own cook pot. It plugs into your wall outlet and circulates the water in the pot at a constant temperature. That’s pretty much the way that most professional sous vide cookers work in restaurants and commercial establishments. But the Anova unit I tried is made for those of us who only want to cook for families and friends.

asus_zen_watch.png OK, so Asus just announced their newer version of the Zenwatch - the version 2 so I’m now officially one version behind. Regardless, here’s what I found from using the original version. For me the Zenwatch is actually pretty good. Partly because it looks like a stylish regular watch and also because it works well. I’ll spare the rant on smart watches. There’s plenty of that along with comparisons and pundit confusion. Here’s what I liked and what I got frustrated with in using the Zenwatch.
