American (scotch?) Single Malt Whiskey

Yes, I know that there are malt beverages made in the US. I even have a couple and they are equal in many ways to the single malt Scotches that I enjoy. But it seems there’s a trend now in America to produce outstanding single malt whiskeys. Here’s Gizmodo’s writeup on a few. I think I need to go shopping again. Oh, and is there an American Whiskey Trail similar to the Bourbon Trail? If there is I think it’s going to be a much longer road trip based on the locations in this article.
