Festival Time – Beer, Bourbon, and BBQ (no bacon!?)
This last weekend was the time for sampling. We attended the Beer, Bourbon and BBQ festival in Charlotte, NC. The weather was perfect, the beverages were abundant, and we were with good friends. This event was the preparatory day for our travels to Louisville, KY where we are scheduled to visit 6 distilleries (more about those later). Below are a few pictures of people and products we encountered.
I understand that this event is produced in several cities in the US, but most don’t include the BBQ portion. I guess that since this was in the South, having BBQ was pretty much mandatory. I’m happy it was because the offerings were fabulous. Unfortunately we ate our portions before I could get any pictures of them.

Generous pours. Actually they were 1oz pours but you could revisit as many times as you liked. We liked.
Heaven Hill had a good representation of their products.

Johnny Drum was featured at the ‘High End’ table. I’m not certain what criteria was used to determine high end products. Johnny Drum seems to be available for less than $40.

Great paintings of wine and spirits from Christopher Mize a local Virginia Painter.

Four Roses pours.
Four Roses barrel select.

The High End table opened one bottle at a time until they were all gone. This is about 1/2 of what they poured.

Yes, there was beer as well.
And sadly this was the only bacon-related offering.
