Craft Cocktail Recipe: Orange Canadian Scottie
Here’s one I put together in an attempt to make scotch more palatable to my wife who loves bourbon. I think it’s partly the taste of malt that she avoids, but also the relative sweetness of bourbon is a little easier to take. I don’t disagree at all, having been a dedicated scotch drinker for too many years.. This is a simple drink with just enough malt flavor to let you know it’s still scotch, but enough diversity of flavor to let non-scotch drinkers enjoy a tasty treat. Try it for yourself.
This recipe makes 1 cocktail so multiply by X to get an appropriately sized portion for several people.
- 2 oz Scotch (go for one that isn’t particularly peaty if your audience is scotch-averse)
- 1 oz Triple Sec
- 1 tsp Maple syrup (the real stuff)
Shake with a few ice cubes and serve over ice with orange peel.
