The Western ends of North Carolina and South Carolina have become destinations for wine lovers. There is a growing list of wineries within about a 1 hour drive of either Greenville, SC or Asheville, NC. The styles of the wineries range from the expansive Biltmore (actually the winery is just a small part of the Biltmore estate) to much more modest home-based wineries. The same is true of the wines produced in the region. Some are truly great and competitive with other wine regions around the world, while others are nearly undrinkable (to me at least). Below is a list of the current wineries in the area and a link to my Google List including a map of the area.
Take a little trip and try the wide variety of wines in this region. And let me know your impressions and recommendations.
